HTML Introduction

HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. It is used to design web pages using markup language. HTML is the combination of Hypertext and Markup language. Hypertext defines the link between the web pages. Markup language is used to define the text document within tag which defines the structure of web pages.

HTML is a markup language which is used by the browser to manipulate text, images and other content to display it in required format.

What is HTML?

  • HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language.
  • HTML consists series of elements.
  • HTML define structure of a web page.
  • HTML helps to render content and display content
  • HTML elements are represent by tags (<>).
  • HTML tags never render but tags help browser to render the element in a specific manner.

A Simple HTML Document

Example explained

  • The <!DOCTYPE html> defines the declaration of HTML5 document.
  • The <html> element is root element of a document.
  • The <head> element provide metadata information about document
  • The <title> element specify title of this document which will appear in browser tab.
  • The <body> element hold the document part visible on browser.
  • The <h1> element render a large top level heading (we will cover heading later in more detail).
  • The <p> element instructed to render a paragraph on document
